Connect to SAP HANA and Create report using SAP BusinessOnjects Analysis for Office

In previous article, we learnt what SAP BusinessObjects Analysis is.
In this article, we will learn how to use SAP BusinessObjects Analysis to connect to HANA and create report.

Prerequisite:

Download and install SAP BusinessObjects Analysis from SAP Service market Place (SMP login required). Note that this is a licensed tool and not available for free.
Create ODBC connection.

Steps to create report from HANA views

1. Start Analysis for Office from the Start Menu:
  1. Start Menu
  2. All Programs
  3. SAP Business Intelligence
  4. SAP BusinessObjects Analysis
  5. Analysis for Microsoft Excel
 
2. Select Analysis → Insert → Select Data Source

3. In order to use a local ODBC connection (instead of authenticating against BOE and using a relational DB connection published to CMC), click Skip.

4. Select the ODBC connection named H00 32 bit, click Next

5. Enter your SAP HANA user name and password, click OK

6. Find and expand your package, select one of the views you have created, click OK.

7. A report based on that view is shown.

8. Drag and drop dimensions and measures in the rows and columns to navigate in that view and build your report.

To filter members or measures, right click on the row or column item.
