Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools. Double Click on Data Source to launch ODBC Administrator Window.
Click on System DSN. "Sample Horton Works Hive DSN" should be selected. If not select it. Click on Configure.
On the HortonWorks Hive ODBC Driver DSN Setup - Type the IP address and port of the sandbox. Authentication Mechanism should be set to User name. SandBox user name should be entered in the User Name Box.
Note: The sandbox IP address is displayed in the command prompt window after the sandbox VM (Virtual Machine) starts, and also appears in the browser address box when you open the sandbox.
Click on Test to test if everything is OK.
Now that you have configured the Hortonworks ODBC driver, you can enable ODBC connections in BI tools such as Microsoft Excel to query, analyze and visualize data stored within the Hortonworks Data Platform.
