How to resolve 403-Forbidden error while accessing SAP HANA web based development workbench?
After creating HANA MDC instance on SAP HANA Cloud platform, while you are trying to access the "SAP HANA Web-based Development Workbench" link you might be getting "403 - Forbidden" error message. Let's resolve the issue by going through the steps from the beginning.
1) Create Database MDC trial instance :
Click on "New" button (blue colored) on the "Databases and Schemas" screens as shown in the following image.
A dialog box would appear captioned "New Databases/Schema", you would need to select "HANA MDC (trial)" option from the drop down labeled "Database System" to create MDC instance.
Set system password and turn on "DP Server" option, then press "Save" button.
A message would be displayed instantly on events screen as shown below. You would need to wait for a while till the database instance is set up completely.
2) Access Cockpit and Workbench link
After the setup, database instance would be automatically started. Both the links for cockpit and workbench would visible as shown below.
While you try to access "SAP HANA Web-based Development Workbench" , a logon screen would appear where you need to use "system" as user and the password you have provided at the time MDC instance set up.
But, you will face the following "403 - Forbidden" error message.
So, to resolve it, you first need to click the cockpit link as shown below.
A dialog box would appear where you need to press "OK".
Then another dialog box would be displayed about assigning roles, you just need to press "Continue".
Now, you will be auto directed to the DB administration dashboard.
Now, if you try to access the workbench link, "SAP HANA Web-based Development Workbench" screen would appear.
3) But, still you wouldn't have the access to Editor and Catalog. Some more roles need to be assign to access them.
As, you could see, we tried to access "Editor" without setting further roles, so we have received 403 Forbidden error message as shown below.
To set those roles, click on "Security" tab as shown below.
Following screen will appear and you would need to select "Users" from the left side panel .
Then "Users" tab will be expanded , further you need to click on "SYSTEM" as shown below, as a result role setting screen would appear.
Further, you would need to click on "+" sign (green colored) as shown below.
"Find Role" dialog box would appear, there you need to insert the phrase "sap.hana.ide.roles" to search and currently 6 results listed, first three as shown in the following screenshot need to be selected. Then, press "OK" button to proceed further.
As you could see, three new roles assigned, but yet to be saved, that's why "SYSTEM" tab is highlighted in yellow color indicating unsaved changes made. So, press the "Save" button as shown below.
You might cross check whether it's save correctly or not by searching the roles in "Granted Roles" as shown in the following image.
That's all we would need to do , now you would be able to access "Editor" and "Catalog" tabs.

      Hi Addul,
At the time of creating HANA system in Cloud Cockpit using MDC approach, you need to specify SYSTEM user n password. Did you try that?
