In previous article, we explained basic features and functionalities of HANA Cockpit. In this article, we will explain how to configure HANA Cockpit after installation.
You have access to the COCKPIT_ADMIN user, created during the installation process
You have access to the master password which you were prompted to enter during the installation process.
You know the URL for the cockpit and the cockpit manager, created during the installation process.
Follow below steps to configure HANA Cockpit
Step 1: Connect to the Cockpit Manager and sign in as the COCKPIT_ADMIN user. The COCKPIT_ADMIN user and corresponding master password were established during cockpit installation. You can open the Cockpit Manager by entering the Cockpit Manager URL. The URL takes this form: https://: The Cockpit Manager port number was configured during cockpit installation.
Step 2: Register resources. For each resource, make sure you have already created a technical user with CATALOG_READ database privilege and SELECT granted on the _SYS_STATISTICS schema.
You need to create technical user required to register a resource and grant the minimum necessary authorization by using SQL as follows: CREATE USER PASSWORD NO FORCE_FIRST_PASSWORD_CHANGE; GRANT CATALOG READ to ; GRANT SELECT on SCHEMA _SYS_STATISTICS to
Step 3: Create groups of resources so that you, or other cockpit users, can see data from more than one resource simultaneously.
Step 4: Create other cockpit users and assign them to have access to one or more groups of resources. If you prefer, you can create cockpit users or resource groups before registering the resources.
Step 5: Sign in to the SAP HANA cockpit with the credentials of one of the newly-created cockpit users. Select the Resource Directory link under Administration. The Resource Directory displays all the registered resources to which this cockpit user has access. For a specific resource, enter the database user name and password credentials you want to use to connect to this resource.
