In this article we will explain basic features and functionalities of SAP HANA Cockpit.
What is SAP HANA cockpit?
SAP HANA cockpit provides a single point of access to a range of tools for administration and detailed monitoring of multiple, individual and tenant SAP HANA databases. It also integrates the SQL development capabilities required by administrators.
SAP HANA cockpit, a Web-based HTML5 user interface that you access through a browser, runs on SAP HANA extended application services, advanced model (XS advanced). You can use the cockpit to monitor and manage systems running SAP HANA 2.0 or SAP HANA 1.0 SPS 12.
The SAP HANA cockpit provides aggregate, system and database administration features, for example, database monitoring, user management, and data backup.
Administrators can use the SAP HANA cockpit
- to start and stop services, to monitor the system
- to configure system settings
- and to manage users and authorizations.
Initially, the SAP HANA cockpit displays data at a landscape or enterprise level. You can quickly drill down to an overview of an individual resource. Links, data, tiles, and different parts of a single tile are drillable, providing access to more detailed information and functions.
How to Open SAP HANA Cockpit?
The URL for the cockpit is defined during the installation process. Enter the SAP HANA cockpit URL in your browser. Enter your cockpit user name and password. The SAP HANA cockpit opens.
SAP HANA database explorer
SAP HANA database explorer is integrated into the HANA cockpit. The database explorer provides the ability to query information about the database using SQL and MDX statements.
The database explorer displays your database objects, grouped by schema. It also contains an SQL console for executing SQL statements and an SQL analyzer for analyzing them, an SQL debugger for debugging procedures, as well as an MDX console for executing MDX queries.
SAP HANA Cockpit for Offline Administration
The SAP HANA cockpit for offline administration is a version of the SAP HANA cockpit that communicates with SAP HANA using SAP Host Agent. You can use it to perform administration tasks, such as starting the system or troubleshooting a system experiencing performance problems, as operating system user adm. In a system replication scenario, you can use it to perform a takeover.
