From SPS09 version , SAP HANA is featured with Multi Tenancy . So, now the question is how to perform administration tasks for tenant databases configured in SAP HANA. SAP HANA Cockpit has made it easier than we could imagine. We already know what is SAP HANA Cockpit, for those who is not aware about it, please follow the url mentioned below.
So, from this cloud based web tool i.e. SAP HANA Cockpit, we would be able to view multiple tenant database installed, visualize their health status, create tenant database, resource usage details like memory usage etc. This feature is available from SPS10, although multi-tenancy was implemented in SPS09.
A separate catalog is introduced for Multi-Tenancy which is named SAP HANA System Administration where number of tenant databases, database with issues, database not running those details would be visible. And, through SAP HANA Database Administration catalog, usage of resources along with list of tenant database could be visualized.
Create Tenant Database option is also available on cockpit, now there is no need of using SQL queries for it, the option is positioned at the bottom-right corner of cockpit window. Other options like Start, Stop, Delete Tenant Database options are available at same bottom-right corner.
"You can create a tenant base keeping it standby by disabling ""Start Automatically"" option. Services and Host could be set additionally, else it would take default services and host for setting up the tenant database."
Due to the presence of Cockpit , users do not need to know SQL queries to administrate tenant databases. Moreover, as Cockpit is a cloud application and web accessible , users can access it anywhere just through a browser.
