OpenStack is a free and open-source software tool
for building and managing cloud computing platforms
for private and public clouds.
OpenStack is mostly deployed as an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). It is managed by the OpenStack Foundation
, a non-profit that oversees both development and community-building around the project.
Think of OpenStack as the control layer that sit above all the virtualize things that already in your data center. Regardless of what Virtual Machine you choose the way you access them is consistent. The same goes for storage, network etc. You can access this all through OpenStack.
